MC provides nutritional supplement kits to the mothers of new born girls child from today

Vijay Kumar Dev, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, Chandigarh Administration today launched the scheme for new born girls child in which the Municipal Corporation distributed Nutritional supplement kits to the mothers of new born girls child in Government Multi Specialty Hospital, Sector 16, Chandigarh in presence of Smt. Poonam Sharma, Mayor and Sh. V.P. Singh, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh.

Under this scheme the Municipal Corporation provides 11 Nutritional supplements including 20 pcs of baby diapers, 50 ml baby lotion, 16 pcs of sanitary napkins, 1×72 pcs of baby wipes, 1×100 ml hand sanitizer, 1×100 ml povidone lodine lotion solin., 500 gms cotton absorbent, 2×5 inch bandages, 90 caps. Cap. Iron with zinc & folic acid, 90 tabs. Tab. Calcium carbonate with Vit. D3 and 200 ml feminine hygiene wash to the new born girls child and their mother.

The Adviser said that Municipal Corporation has started a marvelous service in the field of save girls child, which will help to improve the gender ratio in this area. He stressed up on the need that the northern states should follow this kind of initiatives to correct the gender ratio, which is very below then desirous rate.

He said that harmonious balance will be maintained between the Health department, Chandigarh Administration and Municipal Corporation regarding the provision of best possible medical services to the citizens of Chandigarh. He said that territorial spread services and effective services will be ensured for the long term benefit of the city and its residents.

The Adviser appreciated the dog sterilization programme team and said that the Administration and Municipal Corporation are committed to provide safe atmosphere to every resident of the city and will extend all kind of possible help to local residents.

While addressing the gathering, the Mayor said that Municipal Corporation will provide the kits to all the mothers of girls child, who born in government hospitals only. To encourage the public especially from villages and slums, various other girls child welfare schemes will be started soon, she added.

She said that the Women Empowerment Committee of Municipal Corporation is working hard towards various welfare schemes for the girls child including to encourage girls from villages and slum areas to pursue their education and improve their educational level; To provide care, protection and near family atmosphere for orphan and destitute children and to provide education, vocational training, medical and recreational facilities etc.

Appreciating the efforts of women self-help groups in villages and slums of Chandigarh, she said that the participation from community has been enhanced after awareness created by these groups and they are also assisting in the implementation of various welfare programmes started by the government.

She said that the foundation stones of three 50 bed hospitals at Sector 48, Maloya and Dhanas will be laid shortly and by provision of these hospitals the area residents can have medical facilities near their door steps.

Sh. Davesh Moudgil, Chairman, Primary Health Committee, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh said that the Corporation has approved agenda regarding blood testing in all the 20 civil dispensaries of the city, where the people from weaker sections can afford the facility of blood testing on very cheaper charges.

He said that special ambulance facilities will be added to the villages and rehabilitation colonies. Besides procurement of medicine and distribution from the civil dispensaries, evening OPDs will be started in at least two dispensaries for the benefit of specially senior citizens.

He further said that the motive of Municipal Corporation is to reach all the women in the city for their upliftment through community awareness and their participation. The MC will organize health check up, immunization and conducting health and nutrition education camps. He emphasized the need for community participation to come forward for helping girl child by helping them in following higher studies and professional courses.

Earlier, the Adviser, Mayor and Commissioner honoured the team of dog sterilization programme including Sh. Rajiv Gupta, Joint Commissioner, Dr. P.S. Bhatti, Medical Officer of Health, Dr. M.S. Kamboj, Superintendent Slaughter House and incharge of Dog Sterlization programme, Dr. J.P. Yadav and Dr. V.K. Gore.

Smt. Gurbax Rawat, Deputy Mayor, Sh. Rajiv Gupta, Joint Commissioner, Sh. Anoop Sunny Gill, Smt. Rajinder Kaur Rattu, Smt. Sheela Devi, Smt. HarjinderKaur, Prof. Aruna Goyal, Maj. D.S. Sandhu (Retd.), Sh. M.P. Kohli, Sh. Darshan Garg, Sh. Arun Sood, Sh. H.C. Kalyan, councilors, officers of Municipal Corporation, representatives of women self-help groups from various parts of city were present during the occasion.
