Adviser starts 100 ft road construction work at Pocket No.8, Manimajra

Vijay Kumar Dev, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, Chandigarh started the construction work of 100 ft. wide road in Pocket No.8, Manimajra (between Police Station Chowk, Manimajra to Mansa Devi Complex Chowk) in presence of Mrs. Poonam Sharma, Mayor, Sh. Deshraj Gupta, area councilor, Sh. Gurcharn Dass Kalaa, Sh. Babu Lal, IAS (Retd.), councilor, Sh. Mukesh Anand, Chief Engineer, Sh. N.P. Sharma, Superintending Engineer, MC, Chandigarh, dignitaries of the area.

The Adviser also made a first dig with spade to start the work followed by ritual ceremony of “Bhoomi Pujan”.

The Adviser praised the efforts of local councilor Sh. Desh Raj Gupta, officials of MC for starting this work of road. He said that people moving towards Mansa Devi complex and nearby areas can now opt for this road to avoid the traffic jams in Manimajra market. He said that in the evening hours the old market in Manimajra remains jam packed and people suffered a lot. Now this connecting road will be a big relief for the local residents, who are facing heavy traffic jams daily.

While addressing the gathering Mayor said that the length of road is 835.36 running meter having width of carriage way 44 ft. She said that proper street lights, road gullies, footpaths on both sides with proper paving will be provided in this road. She said that the connecting road was long pending demand of local residents and it was made feasible with the dedicated efforts of area councilor and officials of MC. She informed that the rough cost estimate of Rs. 285.94 lacs has been approved by the MC General House to provide this road. The road will likely be compeleted by the end of this financial year i.e. March, 2016, she added.
