The airline had planned an action packed day for its guests onboard I5 726 on 16 May 2016 from Bengaluru to Delhi marking the milestone.  Akshay Sharma, the 2.5 millionth guest, was a recipient of some wonderful surprises during his journey. A personalized pick-up was arranged for Akshay who was accompanied by a photographer capturing his moments of fame from time to time. We should admit we caught Akshay by surprise a couple of times through the flight and his entire experience with AirAsia.

On his arrival at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru (KIAB), he received a warm welcome by AirAsia India’s management. At Gate No.1 all guests had their ‘moment of fame’ captured at the decorated boarding gate – the suspense was still intact.

Just before boarding, Amar Abrol, (CEO designate) of AirAsia India, greeted Akshay at the Gate and presented him with an envelope which had something special – a link to the 50% off for 50 hours on AirAsia flights. This is the special surprise that the airline had planned as a gesture to thank all the guests that have been a part of this journey of flying 2.5 million guests. AirAsia also looks forward to welcoming many more first time flyers who can explore exciting destinations across India, Asia, Australia and thereon by travelling on the AirAsia Group network.

An ecstatic Akshay then boarded the flight unaware of what lay ahead. Filled with personalized messages by the crew onboard, Akshay & all the other guests were kept engaged through the flight. No celebration is complete without a sweet – all the guests on board were given tasty doughnuts from AirAsia. The celebration didn’t end there! A lucky draw was conducted by Akshay who was asked to pick 8 lucky guests – 2.5 lakh BIG points were distributed among the 8 of them. The BIG Points can be used to redeem any flight across the AirAsia network. The entire flight had an aura filled with happiness!

Amar Abrol, (CEO designate) AirAsia India said, “We at AirAsia India are thrilled beyond words on having flown 2.5 million guests as of today. It is an honour for all the AirAsia Allstars who have worked towards achieving this in the last few months.  I would like to say a big thank you to all our guests who have flown with us – without them we wouldn’t be where we are today. We will continue to work hard towards serving our guests better and enable many more first time flyers to experience air travel at affordable fares.”

Akshay Sharma, the 2.5 millionth guest said, “I am bowled over by the wonderful experience that I had on board I5 726 from Bengaluru to Delhi. I feel extremely special that I have been a part of a significant milestone that AirAsia India has touched. All of us on board were beneficiaries of multiple surprises and suspense elements from the time we checked-in to the flight. I would like to thank the team of AirAsia India for the brilliant experience they gave all of us and wish them the best of luck for more milestones to come. Not to forget the 50% off we’re getting for the next 50 hours – I can’t wait to experience and explore more with AirAsia!”

On arrival at the Delhi International Airport, Akshay was received by Kiran Jain, Commercial Director, AirAsia India who presented him with a framed certificate for him to cherish. The team of AirAsia India then bid goodbye to Akshay with a chauffeur driven car to drop him off and complete his journey with us.

AirAsia India started its operations on 12 June 2014, with an Airbus A320.
