NewZNew (Chandigarh) : Spirituality and serenity echoed in the New Public School Sector 18 D as the school started celebrations for the upcoming Birth Anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Continuing with the decades old sacred tradition to pray for prosperity, progress and peace and also to imbue piety in the students the Akhand Path was organized in the School from November 19 to November 21, 2015.
The Akhand path which started on 19th Nov and for three days the entire school throbbed with religious fervor. Bringing the holy Guru Granth Sahib amid pious hearts marked the first day. The school band gave a ceremonial welcome and devotees lined up along the path and showered petals . The staff and students also maintained the community kitchen which served the congregations for three days.
On 21st Nov school premises remained soothing and peaceful with an unmatched Shabah Kirtan by the school students and also by Ragi Jatha, Ashwin of Class VIII-A presented ‘Vichar’ on ‘history of Golden Temple’ followed by explanation of ‘MoolMontra’ and ‘PehliPauri’ given by Prabhpreet and Muskan of class IX. The entire function was conducted and carried on by the school students only. The students recited beautiful poems on the life of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Raagi Jatha from Ludhiana BHai Avtar Singh Ji perform Live Kirtan.
Even after the school-time was over, teachers, and other staff members along with hostel students gathered in the assembly ground for making preparations for the langar i.e. cleaning of lentils and chopping of vegetables with devotion and enthusiasm.
The Akhand Path coloured the staff and students alike in devotional and religious hues and brought out the qualities of ‘Community service and sharing’ to the fore. The sacred Akhand Path culminated with “bhog” where the parents, students and school staff partook in “Guru ka langar” prepared by the students of the school.
