Annual Vivek High Fiesta concludes: Lieutenant General Kanwaljit Singh Dhillon, PVSM, UYSM, YSM, VSM, (Retired) who is also Chairman, Board of Governors (BOG), IIT Mandi was the Guest of Honour at the closing ceremony of the 3 day Annual Vivek High Fiesta 2024(VHF’24) held at Vivek High School, Sec 38, Chandigarh.
He addressed the students and also gave away awards to winners of multi-disciplinary events that took place during VHF ’24. In each event individual winners were recognised, and the fiesta culminated with awarding of an overall Grand Trophy to the top-performing school.
The overall trophy – Vivek High Fiesta Grandmaster Trophy was won by Vivek High School, but in keeping with the school tradition which is that in case the school is the host of an inter school competition and is adjudged overall winner, the school’s winning team hands over the trophy to the 1st Runner up. In keeping with this the VHS team handed over the trophy to Carmel Convent School, Chandigarh which attained the 1st Runner Up position.
It is to be noted that Vivek High School, Chandigarh, over three days played host to a vibrant mix of events at the VHF ’24. These activities consisted of a dynamic Science Fest that included a science drama, a science quiz, science café and science photography. The History Fest boasted of a history quiz and postal stamp designing competition. What’s more, English persuasive speaking, English debate & dramatic interpretation were held. There was a heated display of wits at the proceedings of a MOOT Court. The Commerce department organised ‘Business Conclave’ comprising Business Reel to Real, Tagline and logo designing, and stormy sessions of ‘Business Venture’ and Business Quiz- offering an opportunity to the students’ to present their entrepreneurship acumen
Renu Puri, Principal, Vivek High School, Chandigarh said, “We are happy that the VHF’24 was held successfully and provided an opportunity to nearly 400 students from as many as 22 schools of Chandigarh capital region and even outside to show their talent. I am sure that the participants would have enhanced their knowledge by being a part of VHF 24. The aim at the event was to expose students to different activities which were curated in a creative manner so that learning could be much more fun.”
Students from classes IV to XII were part of the extravaganza and schools like Pinegrove School, Solan; Springdale, Amritsar; Vasant Valley, Delhi, Yadavindra Public School, Patiala, and Scindia School, Gwalior too sent their teams to participate in VHF ’24.
During the final awards cum closing ceremony Lieutenant General Kanwaljit Singh Dhillon (Retired) gave a motivating address. It is pertinent to state that Lt Gen Dhillon is known for planning the Army’s counter against perpetrators of Pulwama Terrorist Attack and also in ‘creating the strategy’ for the destruction of Terror Launch Pads in PoK. His last assignment in the Indian Army was as DG Defence Intelligence Agency (DG DIA). He has also authored a book ‘Kitne Ghazi Aaye, Kitne Ghazi Gaye, My Life Story’.
