‘Art Tantra’ from MAAC Chandigarh showcases the best in animation & visual effects

NewZNew (Chandigarh) : The 2-day ‘Art Tantra’, annual art and creativity festival of Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics (MAAC) Chandigarh, began with a bang at their Sector 34 centre on Saturday.

The pre-production students displayed their work with a horror touch, creating an aura of Halloween with ghosts flying in the dark and legs hanging from the roof and welcoming the visitors with a scary surprise. The production section worked on the Christmas theme adding snowman, minions and olive from the movie ‘Despicable Me’ and covering the surroundings in snow. The post-production team built a fantasy land on the theme of the famous Hollywood movie ‘Avatar’ with the tree of wisdom in the center and rocks and masks covering the area. The post-production section also added a Chroma scene where a visitor could see himself in a fairyland on the LCD.

Among other outstanding works on display were 3D modeling by Abhishek Bisht, a student of 3D specialization course. paintings by Humraj, Priyanka and Ankur and vector design and VFX by Ankit Madhyan, Akhil and Amanjot Singh.

All the efforts of the students and their teachers were aimed at showcasing before the visitors the entire gamut of the rapidly developing animation and visual effects industry. The two-day long festival, celebrating the animation and film making industry, displayed MAAC Chandigarh students’ excellence in the field of 3D animation, graphics and web-designing, 2D animation, stop-motion, claymation, compositing and visual effects.

Besides parents and guardians of students, among those present were a battery of senior North Zonal officials of MAAC, including Mr. Manish Mathur, Zonal Head, MAAC-North, Mr. Rachit Mathur, Regional Head, MAAC-North, Mr. Pradeep Sawant, Technical Head-North, Ms. Mala Halder, Placement Head, MAAC-North.

Congratulating the students on the success of Art Tantra-2014, Director of MAAC Chandigarh, Mr. Varun Roy said the animation and visual effects industry has a great scope and the students of MAAC Chandigarh are the future face of the upcoming world. He also wished the students a great and successful career.
