Bharat Informal Workers Initiative (BHIWI) is a membership based organization of unorganized sector workers. The main objective of the organisation is to make people aware about their rights and policies of the government as they are still ignored. It acts as a bridge between these people and the government. All over India there are 50 Crore people who work in the unorganized sector. As also called Informal workers, they are the people who are struggling at hazardous, unregulated work places with low or marginal pay and exposed to violence, harassment and exploitation.
They are uneducated and unskilled, which perpetuates their employment in informal sector. We are advocating for the right to livelihood and social protection. Bharat Informal Workers Initiative, a non-government organization which is operated by S.A. Ramadass who is chairman for BHIWI and also Ex Minister of Medical Education and Mysuru District Incharge, Govt of Karnataka, who studied the reality about this by travelling throughout the country.
