PUNJAB GOVERNMENT ORDERS COMPLETE REVERSAL ON EVACUATION OF BORDER VILLAGES
Chandigarh October 7: The Punjab government has issued instructions to reverse its earlier decision to evacuate the villages of Punjab situated within the area of 10 kilometres of the Indo-Pak border with immediate effect.
Disclosing this here today, an official spokesman of the government said that, apprehending the retaliation after the recent surgical attacks, the state government had ordered the evacuation of about 1000 villages to safer places. Now the residents have been allowed to go to their respective houses, he added.
Meanwhile, the state government has assured the residents of the villages around Indo-Pak borders to provide complete security and safety to the villagers. Instructions to this effect have already been issued to the administration of the seven border districts for immediate compliance.
