THE BRITISH SCHOOL GOLF ACADEMY’S FLOOD LIGHTS
THE BRITISH SCHOOL BECOMES FIRST SCHOOL IN REGION TO HAVE FLOOD LIT GOLF FACILITIES
NewZNew (Chandigarh) : The British School (TBS), Chandigarh has become the first school in the region to get flood lights for its Junior Golf Academy in Sec 44. The flood lights were inaugurated by Mr. Birinder Singh Gill, President, Chandigarh Golf Club (CGC) to a resounding applause by the invitees. Said Mr. Gill, “There are very few schools in India which have Golf in their curriculum and having a flood lit course is even more, rare. I am indeed privileged to be associated with the inauguration of the flood lights. I congratulate and wish the TBS Golf Academy success in all its ventures.”
Six poles have been erected which have 48 operational lights. The facility will be open for use not just for The British School, Chandigarh golfers but also for other young golfers who want to learn the game. Details of an upcoming camp & tournament for sub juniors and juniors were also announced at the inauguration. Mr. Manjit Kochar, Director, TBS Golf Academy informed, “TBS Junior Golf Academy, Sector 44, Chandigarh will hold a one Month Junior Golf Camp from 25th Oct 2014 for children ages 5-12. The academy will also be holding FIRST DAY-NIGHT
junior/sub-junior golf tournament on 26th October 14. Entry forms for the tournament will be available at the Chandigarh Golf Club and The
British School, Sec 44, Chandigarh.”
Mrs. Mona Sethi, Principal said, “The British School Golf Academy, boasts of a 9-Hole Miniature Golf Course. The Golf Academy; is endorsed by Chandigarh Golf Club & Indo Canadian Golf Association, Canada and is a first class golf training ground for beginners. The inaugural event saw young golfers of TBS Golf Academy hitting shots and putting. A Pitch and Putt session for mothers of TBS students saw enthusiastic ladies displaying their golfing skills under the brightly shining floodlights and supervision of Mr. Manjit Kochar. Said Mrs. Gagan Bhinder Virk mother of a young golfer of TBS Golf Academy, “Playing golf under Flood lights has its own charm. Once you get to play in the evenings, it is going to be like an addiction.”
The flood lit Miniature Golf Course at The British School; Chandigarh will be a big boon for those learning the basics of the game. People strapped for time can now learn nuances of the game even in late evenings due to availability of flood lights.
