NewZNew (Chandigarh) : Tata Docomo, the unified telecom brand of Tata Teleservices, hosted the third of its ten city industry confluence ‘Do Big Symposium’ in Chandigarh today. Hosted by the Enterprise business of Tata Teleservices, ‘Do Big Symposium’ aims to create a unified platform for industry experts, entrepreneurs and CIOs to come together and conduct a meaningful discussion on technology trends that are impacting and enabling businesses to:
- Differentiate their services vis-à-vis their competitors
- Initiate in-depth interactions with existing and potential customers
- Improve productivity and operational efficiencies
The theme for this year’s Do Big Symposium is “Harnessing the power of SMI (Social, Mobile and Internet of Things) for business transformation – The future is closer than you think!” The discussion at the event revolved around how companies are leveraging SMI to create significant businesses differentiators to win in the marketplace.
With the increase in internet penetration and usage, coupled with ubiquitous web access via mobile and increasing availability of affordable smart devices, consumers are connecting and expressing themselves on public platforms hitherto limited to only publishers and editors. For Indian Enterprises, ‘Going Mobile, Going Virtual and Going Global’ has been the catalyst for their Information and Communications Technology (ICT) demand. The half-life of technology is also driving affordable and smaller form factors, allowing connected devices to now play an important role in communicating vital statistics and information to/from remote locations, thereby making information available in real time.
The event also covered the required building blocks, key enablers and challenges faced to implement the SMI strategy in a company. The event came alive with insightful discussions on case studies of businesses that have succeeded through harnessing the power of SMI.
The keynote speech was delivered by Mr. Rakesh Kumar Verma, secretary technical education and industrial training. The evening ended with an insightful and invigorating panel discussion on how technologies such as IoT, social media penetration and mobile application usage will impact the functioning and services of businesses. The panel was graced by Mr. Atul Gupta, Red Alkemi, Co-Founder & CEO; Mr. JD Ghai, Founder & CEO, Santabanta.com; Mr. Ajay P. Shrivastava, Additional Director & Center Head STPI, Mr. K.S Bhatia, Founder & MD at Pumpkart.com and Mr. Himanshu Khanna, Head, Marketing, Enterprise Business, Tata Teleservices Limited.
Commenting on the event, Mr. Harjit Singh Chauhan, Head – B2B Operations, Tata Teleservices Limited stated, “In the age where more ‘things or objects’ are connected to the Internet than people, Tata Docomo understands that data and the growing penetration of technology, especially in businesses, is no longer a luxury but a necessity today. The fact that consumers are adopting and adapting to mobile based services at an exponential rate is a direct consequence of the ‘half-life’ phenomena.
