NewZNew (Bathinda) : The Cancer Short Stay Home, located adjacent to the Civil Hospital premises, is proving to be a boon for the cancer patients and their relatives. Constructed at a cost of Rs 315 lacs, the project is aimed at providing lodging and boarding to the cancer patients and their relatives at heavily subsidized government rates.
Giving this information here today, the Deputy Commissioner Dr Basant Garg stated that the Cancer Shorty Stay Home is a great help for the cancer affected people who come to the city for treatment. He said that with the Punjab government’s initiatives of providing cancer treatment and care in government sector and through empanelled hospital in private sector, the number of cancer patients and their relatives reaching Bathinda has increased. The Cancer Short Stay Home is meant to meet with the lodging and boarding needs of these patients who stay in Bathinda for days together for treatment.
He added that already OPD has been started at the Advanced Cancer Diagnostic, Treatment and Research Centre Mansa Road where the patients visit for treatment. Similarly, government has empanelled private hospital of the district for cancer treatment under Chief Minister’s Cancer Relief Fund. This has resulted in a number of cancer patients visiting Bathinda for treatment.
The double storey building of Cancer Short Stay Home has 108 rooms with 28 rooms on ground floor and 40 rooms each at the first and second floor. The patients are also provided food facility at government rates ensuring that the patients and their relatives get nutritious diet. To avail the facility at Cancer Short Stay Home, the copy of OPD slip or medical reports of patient undergoing cancer treatment is necessary.

Non AC – Rs 48 per bed per day
AC – Rs 240 per bed per day
Cooler – Rs 95 per bed per day
Heater – Rs 95 per bed per day
