NewZNew (S A S Nagar) : Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri celebrated Lohri with the theme Beti Hai Toh Kal Hai and distributed Fixed Deposit Receipts among the Parents of 2016 Born Girls to underprivileged parents so that so can use this amount later for the education of these girls . The colorful function started with the singing of Lohri songs Sunder Mundari and the students presented solo as well as group dances and sang melodious songs. The main novelty of the function was to give the message to Save Girl Child. Skits related to themes of banning of female foeticide, anti-dowry campaign and Beti Padhao Desh Badhao were presented in a very lively and heart touching manner.
Speaking on the occasion, Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal,President CGC, Expressed concern over decreasing female male sex ratio. He appealed to the young students to take a pledge that they will never indulge nor let others indulge in the crime of female foeticide. He further informed that such initiative to help girls are always taken in CGC Jhanjeri to support girl students . It is his belief that such small efforts to support and save girl child can make immense difference .According to him every girl child should be made literate so that she can become independent in her life.
