NewZNew (S A S Nagar) : Chandigarh Group of Colleges Jhanjeri organized a National Symposium on The Scenario of Organic Agriculture in India at its campus . Students of B.Sc.(Agriculture) of CGC Jhanjeri, and some from Manipur and Andhra Pradesh studying in neighboring institutes participated in the symposium. The key note experts from premier agricultural institutes in India including Dr. Dinesh Kumar, Principal Scientist, Department of Agronomy, Indian Agriculture Research Institute, New Delhi, Dr. Madan Lal kamboj, Senior Scientist, National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal and Dr. Gurjant Singh Gatoria, Senior Entomologist PAU Ludhiana, shared their experience with students.
Dr. Dinesh kumar explained the principles of organic the use of biocontrol agents and crop rotation .Dr. Madan Lal Kamboj explained pesticides or residual effect of the milk that we drink daily. Dr. Gurjant Singh Gatoria gave a broad perspective of honey bee, honey production and organic honey production.
While speaking on the occasion Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal President CGC said that he himself has farming background and desire to improve the farming quality and productivity in the region and to give top class agricultural professionals to Punjab. He further added it is high time to improve crop quality to increase income of farmers.
Dr. G.D. Bansal Director General CGC said at the moment that the objective of the Symposium was to give the students better understanding of organic agriculture .He also informed students about the harmful effects of chemicals.
