CGC Landran staged a play highlighting the negative effects of dowry

NewZNew (S A S Nagar) : Chandigarh Group of Colleges Landran Organised a Laughter Blaster Comedy Play with The Young Emerging Talent Viyaah Impossible based on a social evil dowry system. The main reason to put up this stage show is to enhance the hidden talents among the students, promote theatres, and also to polish the evil Indian mentality of dowry in our society. The young performers played two families that are looking for the best match for their children. While challenging folkways, rising trend of materialism was highlighted through comedy. The dance was also well choreographed and audience swayed with the beat.

While speaking at the moment Chairman CGC, Satnam Singh Sandhu and President Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal said that it is high to raise voice against such social evils and aware future citizens about its ill effects on the society as woman dies every hour in India due to the demands placed upon her family as a result of the dowry system. They further added that it is illegal and the punishments are severe, but still the number of cases are on the rise in and continues to grapple with the issue of violence against women .According to them it’s not only the uneducated or tribals that practice it but the affluent societies in large cities and towns also do the same for the sake of more and more money only.
