Chinese Moon Festival at Taj Chandigarh from the 2nd to the 18th of September 2016

NewZNew (Chandigarh) : Taj Chandigarh celebrates the Chinese New year, also known as the August Moon Festival with élan at Black Lotus from the 2nd to the 18th of September 2016 for lunch and dinner.

The festival will see an array of authentic Chinese food, with the central focus on dim sums, baozi and kothe. Chef Hung Fong, from Golden Dragon, Hyderabad presides over the festival by bringing to the table some of his best creations in an a la carte menu.

Mr. Surinder Singh says ‘when it comes to dim sums, the city mostly gets to flavor an odd chicken steamed one, with the stuffing changing to paneer for the vegetarians. We change this game by bringing in not only a large variety in terms of the exiting variety of stuffings, but also wrapping.’ This can clearly be seen in the special menu that the festival offers.

The glass dim sums bring in delicacies like prawn and crab over and above the more traditional chicken ones. The spinach and tofu combination is rather promising and a much needed respite from the masala paneer stuffed momos that the town has been offering to vegetarians. The imported flour dim sums up the game even further with lamb and fish combinations teasing your taste buds. The vegetarians will be happy with how Chef Hung Fong has brought in mushroom, corn and even broccoli into the dim sum arena. The Tofu and pok choy dim sum is indeed a treat for those who enjoy their greens.

Kothe, which is not very commonly found in Chandigarh can also be eaten during the August Moon festival in Black Lotus. A great mix of sea food and fish can be found here with combinations like waterchesnut and leeks adding to the delight. Vegetarians will find that Chinese greens have been adopted by the chef to offer extremely interesting vegetarian kothes as opposed to the run of the mill ones.

Baozi lovers will enjoy the festival tremendously since a large array of these delicacies is being offered in the August Moon festival menu. Again here the Chef plays with a variety of stuffing and right from a chive and egg combination to mixed meat pan fried baozi and even Hua juan scallion bao, all of it can be enjoyed. The sea salt and Schezwan pepper baozi is definitely not to be missed for its interestingly unique flavour.

One can wrap all of these delights up with a nice round of Chinese tea and enjoy the traditional Moon cake that the chef offers with a twist by serving it with ice-cream.

Taj Chandigarh, once again charms with its food and the backdrop of Black Lotus luxury completes the deal for those who enjoy their food in the perfect ambience with impeccable service. For bookings and further inquiry contact Sunman at +91 9872570742 or call the hotel lines +91 172 661 3000.
