CII Yi holds Zumba session with Vivek High Students


NewZNew (Chandigarh) : To accentuate the importance of physical fitness in today’s stressful world in the young minds, Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII’s) Young Indians (Yi) Chandigarh chapter organised a Zumba session at Vivek High School Chandigarh which witnessed participation of more than 50 students.

Lasting for more than 2 hours, the Zumba session focused on some key dance steps and forms which are most helpful to enhance the blood circulation, improve metabolism, kill fat, strengthen the heart and lungs and reinforce the immune system of the body, hence improving overall fitness.


Ms Amanjot Kaur, Chair, Yuva, CII Yi Chandigarh Tricity Chapter and Director, Innovative Financial Management stated that “a workout is only effective when you enjoy it and Zumba is an activity that the students will enjoy to maintain their fitness. Hence we organsied this session to inculcate habit of physical activities and exercises in their otherwise sedentary lifestyles”.

Mr Vikram Kapoor, General Manager, Bodyzone Fitness N Spa while interacting with the students of the school, provided details on the various benefits of Zumba. According to him, Zumba, a dance fitness method created by Colombian dancer and choreographer Alberto “Beto” Perez based on salsa and other Latin dance moves, is choreographed and performed in such a way so as to allow people of any fitness level to enjoy a fantastic workout.

“Zumba makes an excellent choice of a group fitness method to support your fitness goals”, he added.

Zumba as a workout has a lot of benefits as it helps calorie burning at a custom pace. Further, its a full body workout which leads to greater coordination and boosts the confidence levels. Its most unique feature is that it can be customised and never strains the body as other exercises do.  

The experts suggested that those who really wish to take the Zumba lifestyle to the next level should create their own fluid and fun routine and this routine should be created by firstly choosing a Favourite Song which one loves and can hear over again and again.
