Councillor Bimla Dubey hoisted the national flag at Maharishi Dayanand Public School: Maharishi Dayanand Public School, MDAV Bhawan, Daria, Chandigarh celebrated Independence Day.
Councillor Bimla Dubey and former deputy mayor Anil Dubey, who arrived as chief guests, hoisted the flag in the presence of Municipal Corporation Inspector Devendra Rohilla, JP Rana, BJP District Coordinator, Social Media, Chandigarh, Amit Garg proprietor, Mahadev Sweets, well-known litterateur Sheenu Walia, Principal Dr. Vinod Kumar Sharma, Vice Principal Anju Modgil, Coordinator Pardeep Kumar, school staff and students.
The people present saluted the flag and sang the national anthem. Thereafter, the students presented a colourful cultural programme in the Smt. Sikandra Devi Multimedia Hall. The multimedia hall was decorated with tricolour flags to give it a look of patriotism and respect for the flag.
Patriotic songs, poems, skits on burning issues, essays on Independence Day, glimpses of the culture of different states, clean environment, making the earth green, maintaining the unity and integrity of the country etc. were presented. Students gave captivating performances through dance on the lines of patriotic songs.
Local councillor Bimla Dubey said that the martyrs who died for the country should always be remembered. They are our guides. She praised the students for their performance. Praising Maharishi Dayanand Public School, Anil Dubey said that organising such programmes increases respect for the country among the students.
Congratulating all the people present, he said that the sacrifice of millions of people is hidden behind this freedom. We should remain humble towards the country. He saluted the martyrs. He said that the captivating performances given by the students are commendable. To encourage the children, they were given cash and sweets.
Municipal Corporation Inspector Devender Rohilla and BJP’s Social Media Convener JP Rana, Amit Garg and Sheenu Walia, who were present as special guests, also motivated the students. Amit Garg also presented a cash prize to the school for a good presentation. Kiran Prabha also presented her composition on patriotism.
Principal Dr. Vinod Kumar said that we did not get independence easily. Many people have sacrificed their lives for this. Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati ji had given the proclamation of Swaraj. As a result of his inspiration, many youths were influenced and contributed significantly in liberating the country.
During the program, guests were presented with tiranga. Laddus were distributed to students, school staff and parents on behalf of councilor Bimala Dubey and Mahadev Sweets. The program ended with the national anthem.
