PATAKKA GUDDIYAN — A Film by Ishanya Studios – In Cinemas Worldwide — 30 October 2026: Patakka Guddiyan is more than a film. At its heart is a dream shared by two real-life sisters, Dr. Mandeep Kaur and Komaljit Kaur Gill, who set out to fulfil their father’s wish of bringing a beautiful and meaningful concept to Punjabi cinema.
What began as an emotional commitment gradually grew into an ambitious cinematic journey. The sisters worked tirelessly to bring together a film rooted in Punjabi families, relationships, humour and emotions while creating an entertaining story that celebrates two very different personalities under one roof.
At the centre of Patakka Guddiyan are twin sisters namely Roohi & Mahi who may look alike, but could not be more different.
One is fire. The other is ice.
One is calm. The other is furious.
Same faces. Completely different worlds.
Their contrasting personalities become the heartbeat of a story filled with family, relationships, celebrations, confusion, laughter and emotion. Through the twins, the film explores individuality and the beautiful unpredictability of family bonds.
The film has been directed by Dr. Mandeep Kaur and Lovejinder Singh Johal, with the major schedules captured through the lenses of cinematographers Rupinder Rupi and Arvind Singh.
Bringing the film to life was a demanding production journey. The cast and crew worked through two major schedules and one minor schedule, putting together hours of performances, emotions and memorable moments.
The next challenge was to transform nearly four hours of filmed material into a tightly woven two-hour cinematic experience. Editor Rohit Dhiman took on that task, carefully shaping the extensive footage into the final narrative while preserving its humour, emotion and rhythm. The film’s post-production was completed at Trisha Studios.
One of the strengths of Patakka Guddiyan is its colourful ensemble — a veritable garland of familiar faces from Punjabi cinema as well as artists recognised across India. The cast includes Hashneen Chauhan, who brings the contrasting twins to life, alongside Malkit Rauni, Tarsem Paul, Anita Meet, Upasana Singh, Sanju Solanki, Pranav Vashisht, Anshul Bhammi, Kulvir Soni, Deepak Niaz, Malkit Gill, Parminder Gill, Harpreet Kaur and Puneet.
Every department from the actors and direction team to cinematography, editing, production and post-production has contributed to turning the sisters’ original dream into a complete cinematic experience.
Ultimately, Patakka Guddiyan is a story about two sisters on screen, brought to the screen by two sisters in real life.
A father’s wish became their inspiration.
Two sisters made it their mission.
An entire team helped turn it into a film.
