NewZNew (Chandigarh) : DaanUtsav titled as the Joy of Giving Week, celebrations concluded with a donation and wish tree activity at Dikshant International School, Zirakpur. Dikshant International School, Zirakpur, organized numerous activities during the celebration which included Piggy Bank/Donation Box, Wish Tree etc.
The donation boxes were kept in the classrooms and students donated minimum Rs. 1 per day from October 2-8, 2015 to be a part of the noble cause. The amount collected during the week was used for donating necessary material to the poor and needy today. A wish tree was made in the school premises wherein children of local NGOs put up their wishes like Pencil boxes, crayons, schoolbag, etc which were donated by students and the wish tags were replaced by smiles from the donor. Underprivileged kids also wrote small messages of what they want to be in life or anything they wished to and put this on the Wish Tree.
Mr. Mitul Dikshit, Chairman, Dikshant International School, Zirakpur while elaborating about the event said, “Our aim with this specific event was to imbibe and encourage the feeling of ‘Giving’ amongst the students. I am glad that we were able to accomplish our aim and the students learnt a lot about sharing.”
