Electronically moving idols at Sector 31-A temple on Janmashtmi

NewZNew (Chandigarh) : Electronically moving ‘jhankis’ of episodes from Lord Krishna’s life will be the highlights of this year’s janmashtmi celebrations at the ancient Nath Satsang Sabha Mandir Baba Balak Nath Maa Vaishno Gufa in Sector 31-A on Saturday.

According to Mahatma Budh Nath Ji, who supervises the temple, made famous by the exact replicas of the Vaishno Devi and Baba Balak Nath ‘gufas’ (tunnels), “this time our curator Pradeep Das who has been making idols of Gods and Goddesses in the temple for the past 22 years, had curated six ‘jhankis’ (scenes) depicting different episodes from the life of Lord Krishna in which the limbs of various idols, including of Lord Krishna, will move in rhythmic fashion.

One of the scenes depicts Lord Vishnu when he appeared before Vasudeva in jail. Another shows mischievous ‘Gopal’ stealing butter from the ‘matki’. Among other scenes are Yashoda Mata tying Gopal’s hands, Kans ‘Vadh’ and Yashodha being teased by Gopal and Balram.
