Farzi Web Series Review: Shahid Kapoor starrer is an engaging drama which works in parts: “When you’re broke, the only thing you see is money”, is a dialogue in the first episode of “Farzi” and that is exactly what the entire series revolves around.
After the “Family Man” series, Raj and DK have come to win your hearts with the tale of the fighter anti-hero underdog and his fight against the system.
The series relies on the main man, Sunny portrayed by an enthusiastic Shahid Kapoor and his fight against the system which only caters to the rich. He has grown up waiting for a Revolution, which is also the name of the pamphlet/magazine that his grandfather prints at the press.
But he witnesses no such things and as he believes that he deserves better, he takes things into his own hands.
Vijay Sethupathi is the cop sent to hunt him down and has all the usual eccentricities Bollywood has attributed to the greatest cops it has ever made. Amol Palekar as Sunny’s righteous grandfather is the embodiment of an optimistic do-gooder. The cast also includes Kay Kay Menon, Raashi Khanna and Bhuvan Arora (as Sunny’s sidekick).
The usual cat and mouse game of the police and thief is recreated in this 8 episode series which has a run-time of 1 hour. Extremely well cut and paced, one can breeze through the episodes.
But at the end of the day it is the same old tale, which has been told again, with little changes to the plot. If you have a free weekend and you crave for some Bollywood content that can kill time, then Farzi is the right pick for you.
