Festival of Science concluded with creative learning and Innovations: The role of science and technology is indispensable in today’s world. The world that we live in is constantly changing and technology is advancing rapidly.
The only way to keep up is to carry on learning, enriching scientific skills and technological knowledge. The same was the motivation which was derived by the students/ visitors on the last day of the three day “Festival of Science” being organized at DAV College, Chandigarh from 26th March, 2024 to 28th March 2024.The event is being partially sponsored by the Department Of Science And Technology, Government of India.
The day began with an exhibition where scientific projects developed and designed by Kolkata based science enthusiasts were exhibited. The visitors to the exhibition were explained the usage, working, and intricacies involved in the development of each project. The projects, highlighted, how scientific results and findings regularly make their way into our everyday lives.
The knowledge enrichment process on the concluding day featured a lecture on “Development of Vaccines” By Prof. Javed Agrewala from IIT Ropar. The audience was elucidated about the various stages in the development and testing process of a vaccine. It was highlighted that as with all medicines, every vaccine must go through extensive and rigorous testing to ensure it is safe before it can be introduced in a country’s vaccine programme.
The hallmark event of the day was one act play “Pralay”- based on the hazardous and devastating effects of deforestation. The play highlighted the need for a war like response to prevent deforestation and why every person on planet must play a pivotal role in afforestation.
The festival ended with a felicitation/valedictory function where outstanding students where awarded and the faculty members, who worked tirelessly as part of various festival organization teams were given tokens of appreciation. The judges, eminent scientists and visitors to the festival deeply appreciated the hard work, team play and flawless handling of all events by the departments of Physics and Computer Science and Applications.
