NewZNew (S A S Nagar) : In an effort to ensure all the staff is updated on prevention mechanisms and fire-fighting readiness, Fortis Hospital Mohali is observing Fire Safety Week from November 7 till November 12, 2016.
From Monday till Wednesday, the Security Department of the hospital, led by Head – Administration Commander Jelson Kavalakkat, will train all the hospital employees during numerous session spread over three days.
The workshops would include theoretical sessions, quiz contests, live demos and hands-on training. On Thursday, a free awareness session would also be organized for attendants in the IPD Lobby with the aim of making them conversant with basic evacuation techniques during a fire incident. A mock fire evacuation drill would also be organized during the week to check response and readiness in case of a disaster.
Facility Director of Fortis Mohali, Mr Abhijit Singh, said, “Fire prevention is a top priority at the hospital. We are organizing Fire Safety Week to raise awareness of fire prevention within the hospital. Activities have been designed to help staff members understand rescue procedures, to deliver instructions on how to use portable fire-fighting tools stationed across the hospital, and to improve the quality of our internal fire prevention team.”
Simultaneously, this is an opportunity for local fire prevention professionals to take a look at the hospital’s infrastructure and location of water sources, to come up with an evacuation roadmap for emergency situations and examine the quality of fire-fighting equipment.
Fire Safety Week will take place amidst many practical and fun activities. The fire prevention and fire-fighting equipment display area will be a place to learn and take photos.
