NewZNew (Chandigarh) : Now Chandigarhians need not wait at signals or haggle for a smooth auto ride. Thanks to Jugnoo, the mobile app for India’s first on demand auto rickshaw service, commuters can call for an auto ride with just a click on their phones. All users need to do is download Jugnoo, register with their email address and start using the service which is available in the tri-city of Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula.
Jugnoo works by connecting commuters with the available auto rickshaws in the vicinity. Once a user logs in, his exact location is pin-pointed on a map. When he requests for a ride, the nearest 3 autos receive the request. They have 1 minute to respond before the request is sent to another 3 new auto drivers till the ride is accepted. The driver who accepts the ride is directed to the pick-up location. The passengers too can track the auto rickshaws location on the map in real time, estimate it’s time of arrival and can view the driver’s contact number, photograph, reviews etc.
The biggest benefit of using Jugnoo is that a passenger only pays the fare for the exact distance travelled. Jugnoo charges Rs. 30 for the first 2 kilometers and Rs. 10 per km after that. The app automatically tracks the distance of the ride and sends the calculated fare to the passenger on an sms. Jugnoo is the one-stop solution to the issue of overcharging faced by commuters today.
Speaking at the launch of Jugnoo, Samar Singla, CEO of Jugnoo said, “We realised that the multitude of people travelling by autos face issues like safety, tardiness, rude behaviour, unavailability and unfair rates. The thought behind Jugnoo was to use technology and bring an app which can be used to call an auto anywhere, anytime with click of a button while ensuring that the rates are cheaper than the comparable rates charged by auto drivers in a locality. “
Any city autorickshaw driver can become a member of the Jugnoo team and offer his independent services to commuters. Jugnoo already has close to 1000 registered users in the tri-city area. The app can be downloaded from Google Play store or iOS store for free.
