Fortis Healthcare and Harley Owners Group unite for ‘Ride for Cancer’ to Raise Cancer Awareness: In an endeavour to create awareness around cancer, Fortis Healthcare today   flagged off ‘Ride for Cancer’ bike rally from Fortis Hospital, Mohali.

Fortis Healthcare and Harley Owners Group unite for 'Ride for Cancer' to Raise Cancer AwarenessThe flag off was done by Abhijit Singh, Head-SBU, Fortis Hospital Mohali, under the presence of Cancer Survivors, Fortis Senior Oncologists and Senior Leadership. Over 70 enthusiastic Harley Davidson Riders, comprising of cancer survivors, participated in the ‘Ride for Cancer’ rally, emphasising early detection, treatment options and the resilience needed to conquer the disease.

Following the flag-off from Fortis Gurugram, the riders embarked on their journey to Fortis Mohali. Here, they were warmly received and acknowledged by senior oncologists, hospital staff, and Fortis management, underlining the hospital’s commitment to cancer care. The ride continued from Fortis Mohali to Fortis Ludhiana, where the bikers conducted a tour of the hospital premises before heading to Amritsar, where the rally concluded.

The event brought together esteemed senior oncologists from the Fortis Group, who shared their insights and perspectives on the significance of cancer prevention and care

Dr Rajeev Bedi, Director, Medical Oncology, expressed his admiration for the participants, “It’s truly inspiring to witness the unwavering passion and enthusiasm of the bikers who are joining this awareness drive, riding all the way from Gurgaon to Amritsar. Their dedication to this cause sends a powerful message about the importance of early detection, effective treatment, and the relentless spirit required to combat cancer.”

Abhijit Singh, Head-SBU, Fortis Hospital Mohali, said, “Early detection and Behavioural change in terms of leading a healthy life are the key to cancer awareness. The aim behind the bike rally was to raise awareness about the prevalence of cancer in India and the importance of early detection, regular screening. The rally was aimed at highlighting the advanced cancer treatment facilities and technologies available at Fortis Healthcare and to inspire and support cancer survivors and patients, showcasing their courage and determination, foster community engagement and support. The ‘Ride for Cancer’ is more than just an event; it’s a movement towards a cancer-aware society. It’s an embodiment of hope, strength, and the collective resolve to beat cancer. Fortis Healthcare’s commitment, coupled with the support of the Harley Davidson community makes this ride a powerful statement/mission in the fight against cancer. Together, we ride not just for awareness, but for a future where cancer is no longer a feared adversary.”

A 65-year-old breast cancer survivor, Saroj, said, “It is important for everyone to get regular health check-ups done for early detection and timely treatment of cancer. Fortis Mohali has been a life savior for me and I have now recovered and leading a healthy life.”

Dr Narendra Kumar Bhalla, Director, Radiation Oncology and Dr RP Doley, Director, General & Laparoscopic; and Robotic and Bariatric Surgeon, while speaking on the occasion stressed that early detection is the key to effective cancer treatment. They added, any symptoms should not be ignored.
