NewZNew (Chandigarh) : Today to mark the martyrdom day of Mahatma Gandhi, Yuvsatta-an NGO along with KB DAV Sr. Sec. Public School, HQ Western Command & Independent Schools Association of Chandigarh organized a ‘1 India-Children’s Friendship Campaign’. In which Chief Guest Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki, Governor, Government of Haryana & Punjab & Administrator, Chandigarh Administration flagged-off an Army Truck from KB DAV-7 containing over 5000 new woolen sweaters & jackets gifted by students of 23 prominent Schools of tricity Chandigarh, Panchkula and SAS Nagar (Mohali), for distribution in Schools of Jammu & Kashmir.
Prominent amongst those who were present on the occasion included Dr. SP Singh Oberoi, Chairman, Sarbatda Bhala Charitable Trust, Brig. Rupinder Singh, VSM from HQ Western Command, HS Mamik, President, Independents School Association, Chandigarh, RK Sharma, DEO, Saroj Mittal, Dy. Director, School Education, Chandigarh and Principal of Schools.
Madhu Bahl, Regional Director & Principal, KB DAV Sr. Sec. Public School welcoming the dignitaries thanked DAV fraternity for their tremendous support to the initiative.
Giving information about ‘1 India-Children’s Friendship Campaign’, Pramod Sharma, Coordinator, Yuvsatta shared that these gifts of woolens also contains friendship cards and self-addressed envelopes of local students, so that the spirit of oneness, national unity & communal harmony grows.
Brig. Rupinder Singh informed that their Army Units in J&K under HQ Western Command will be taking care of responsibility of final distribution in J & K. And they have special chosen border areas which were recently hit by unprovoked firing from Pakistani side.
Congratulating the organizers of the initiative & paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki, Governor, said that world today, especially young students and teachers have so much to learn from Gandhi who by sacrificing political gains, bought peace like all true thinkers and philosophers. Who was above all the frivolities of political life as he drew his strength from what he termed “soul force,” an inner strength that comes only when ones believes in non-violence, truth and an abiding faith in the innate goodness lurking in all fellow beings. Gandhi had the courage of a statesman for initiating reforms
He further added that the ‘1 India’ campaign spearheaded by Yuvsatta with support of tricity Schools truly represents the ideals of national unity and communal harmony which Gandhiji preached and practiced and now it’s for all of us to live upto his ideals of love, care & compassion for fellow human beings & mother earth.
In the end Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki, Governor, also honoured the heads of participating Schools and prominent dignitaries present on the occasion with portraits of Mahatma Gandhi especially prepared by volunteers of Yuvsatta for the occasion.
