NewZNew (New Delhi) : After Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s infamous acquittal in the 2002 hit-and-run, self-styled controversial godman Asaram Bapu said he will too walk freely like the Dabangg actor. Asaram has been in jail for the last two years for an alleged rape case.

While heading to the court for hearing of his case, Asaram told this to Newznew. He said, “I’m also innocent and will walk free like Salman Khan soon.” Asaram’s son Narayan Rai is also accused in a rape case. Since the arrests of Asaram and his son, at least nine key witnesses have been attacked, of which three are dead.

Asaram believes that the judiciary will be on his side after Bombay High Court acquitted Khan of all charges in the case. The final verdict came seven months after a Mumbai sessions court convicted and sentenced him to five-year imprisonment in May 2015. In September 2002, Khan was accused of driving over a group of homeless people who were sleeping on a pavement in Bandra, Mumbai. The 49-year-old was earlier convicted of culpable homicide in a 13-year-old hit-and-run case—was acquitted today by the Bombay high court. After the acquittal, Khan tweeted saying, “I accept the decision of the judiciary with humility. I thank my family, friends & fans for their support & prayers.”
