Bhavdeep Singh cuts a cake for Neha’s gift of God, a baby boy, and motivates recovering Pakistani 18-year-old patient of cerebral palsy
NewZNew (S A S Nagar) : Being in hospital on new year eve may not be the best of situations for an ordinary person, but not for Chandigarh resident Neha Dewan Bansal, who had reason to the doubly delighted. Not only was she blessed with the God’s gift of her first child at the hands Dr Ritambhra Bhalla, who performed the delivery at Fortis Hospital Mohali, but a surprise special visit by the CEO of the healthcare chain Bhavdeep Singh, to greet her and cut a New Year cake on the occasion, was like a sweet dream. He was accompanied by COO – Region North East Ashish Bhatia, and Facility Director Abhijit Singh.
The second door which received a surprise knock from Bhavdeep Singh belonged to 18-year-old patient of cerebral palsy Rizwan Nasrullah from Sialkot in Pakistan, who, during his short stay at the hospital, has got a new found confidence that he will be able to walk normally like his twin brother back home.
The CEO while wishing the Pakistani youth, who is aspiring to be a chartered accountant, all the very best in the New Year, motivated him to show an iron will to recover to normalcy at a brisk pace and fulfil his dream of becoming a CA.
Dr. Ashis Pathak, Director – Neurosurgery, at Fortis Mohali, who accompanied the CEO, informed him that Rizwan had responded very positively to a trial of the programmed infusion of drugs into his body with the help of the sophisticated Baclofen Pump, because of which there has been a remarkable easing of stiffness in his legs and he has been able to stand and walk about on his own.
Dr Pathak said Rizwan’s father Nasr-ullah Khan, a landlord, has been apprised of the issues involved in getting a Baclofen Pump implant, and of subsequent replenishment of the drugs to the infused, and now the family has to take a final call. He expressed confident that with this treatment Rizwan can live a normal life and compete with his twin brother in most activities.
