NewZNew (Chandigarh) : A new & unique international educational initiative was announced on Teachers Day. Avonmore Institute, New Zealand, a highly acclaimed centre for learning with more than five campuses all over New Zealand & that has been awarded as Highly Confident -Category 1 Ranking, by the New Zealand Quality Authority (NZQA), has entered into a tie up with Stallion Institute of International Studies (SIIS), India, to make an education in New Zealand not just a pipedream but a reality, for students. Avonmore has set up its International campus –Stallion Institute of International Studies at Chandigarh’s plush Sector 8.
The announcement of the same was made at a press meet convened by top officials of both Avonmore & Stallion at Chandigarh. Avonmore was represented by Mr. James Hadley, Director & Mr. Mike Hadley, Director, while Mr. Gurinder Bhatti, CMD, ESS Group of Companies-which is the parent company of SIIS , Ms. Reeva Paul, Director, SIIS, Gurdeepak Singh , Advisor, SIIS, participated from Stallion.
The education model is quite novel. “Avonmore’s off shore campus in Chandigarh will reduce the financial burden; a 40 per cent fee waiver will be applicable on the 1st Year’s fees. The first six months of study will be in the Stallion campus in Chandigarh. During this period the students will be given thorough IELTS training by experienced faculty.” Said Mr. Gurinder Bhatti, CMD, ESS Group of Companies.
Students in these six months will be readied for a life in New Zealand. “The students will be taken through a simulated module known as ‘Settlement Skills’. In the course of the module, students will be given hands-on practice for Functional and spoken English, as well as other topics which will make them job ready & equip them with life skills for an International environment.” Said Ms. Reeva Paul, Director, SIIS.
This training will go a long way in helping them settle down in New Zealand. “Not just English & life skills for New Zealand, the students will also be taught subjects related to their chosen course, as per a curriculum designed by Avonmore. After completion of six months of course work, and on fulfilling the required criteria, the students will be transferred to Avonmore, Christchurch campus for the remaining duration of the course.” Said James Hadley, Director, Avonmore.
Initially, the Stallion Institute will offer courses in four streams – Hospitality, Business Studies, Tourism and Computer Networking, gradually more courses from various domains ranging from Music to Event management “An assured three months internship in New Zealand will give students an exposure to the work environment and increase their prospects of getting a good placement.” Added Mike Hadley, Director, Avonmore.
