NewZNew (Chandigarh) : District Ludhiana took a lead by procuring maximum of 14,13,112 M tonnes of paddy till date during the ongoing paddy procurement operations in the state while Sangrur and Moga remained on second and third positions with the total procurement of 13,66,115 M tonnes and 11,07,810 M tonnes of paddy respectively.
Stating this here today an official spokesman of the government said that 111, 07,373 M tonne of paddy has been procured in all the 1806 purchase centres set up by the state government till last evening. The government agencies procured 109,25,453 M tonnes i.e 98.4% and the private agencies procured 1, 81,920 M tonnes i.e 1.6% so far.
He further said that PUNGRAIN maintaining its lead amongst the government agencies and had procured the maximum 34, 37,144(31.5%) M tonne paddy in the mandis of state whereas MARKFED procured 25, 41,800 (23.3%), PUNSUP 24, 50,465 (22.4%), PSWC 10, 71,471 (9.8%) PAFC procured 11, 53,345(10.6%). The Central government agency FCI has procured 2, 71,228 M tonnes of paddy (2.5%), he added.
