NewZNew (Chandigarh) : Continuing its prowess of manufacturing world-class products in India, Mercedes-Benz India today rolled-out the all new C 220 CDI from its state-of-art manufacturing facility in Chakan, Pune. The local production of the new C 220 CDI commences within three months of the car’s India debut. The new C 220 CDI was rolled-out of the assembly line by Eberhard Kern, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India and Piyush Arora, Executive Director, Operations, Mercedes-Benz India. The new locally produced C 220 CDI will now be available in all Mercedes-Benz dealerships across India.

The new C-Class which created a new benchmark with its modern and aesthetic design, luxurious interiors and cutting-edge technology, won the coveted ‘World Car of the Year’ award, even after bagging many prestigious awards from different Indian automotive media in 2014. Its features include exemplary safety and high efficiency, while boasting of sporty and agile handling. Spear heading the spirit of ‘Make in India’ zealously Mercedes-Benz India has now enhanced the localization content in the new C 220 CDI to 60%. The local production of the all new C 220 CDI underlines Mercedes-Benz’s continuous efforts in creating excellence in manufacturing from India and support the ‘Make in India’ initiative of the government.

The new C-Class’ 4-cylinder diesel engine is the most fuel efficient in the segment with a fuel efficiency of 19.27 km per litre. Together with a large fuel tank capacity of 66 litres it gives the customers freedom to explore places around them without worrying about frequent trips to the fuel station. The engine also boasts of the ECO start/stop function which helps in saving fuel and reducing emissions. The engine produces 125 kW at 3000-4200 rpm with a maximum torque of 400 Nm between 1400-2800 rpm, which is highest in the segment. It accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 7.4 seconds with a top speed of 233 kmph.

With the new C-Class, customers can now enjoy a new level of driving dynamics. At a touch of the Drive Mode Selector (AGILITY SELECT), drivers can choose between Comfort, Economy, Sport, Sport+ or Individual driving modes. Parameters such as the engine, transmission and steering characteristics are adjusted according to the selected transmission mode. In the Sport and Sport+ modes the driver can experience added agility and dynamism, thanks to a more direct characteristic steering curve, spontaneous throttle response and modified shift points, providing an exciting and engaging driving experience.

Corporate Star Lease:

Mercedes-Benz also introduces a hassle free and simple leasing solution under the Corporate Star Lease programme. This programme offers a simple solution of driving a Three Pointed Star for corporates under the employee car benefit program. There is a provision for attractive rentals which not only covers the on-road cost of the car, but also additionally covers the maintenance expense during the lease period. This unique leasing programme ensures a delightful ownership experience for corporate customers through a host of attractive features like, freedom from mileage restrictions, the flexibility to change the car or to retain it after the lease period, beneficial tax proposition, and also availability of lease options for 36 months and 48 months.

Rated as one of the top-most production facilities of Mercedes-Benz globally, the Mercedes-Benz India manufacturing facility now has the largest installed capacity of 20,000 units annually and production will commence soon from the newly constructed and expanded facility. Spread over 100 acres at Chakan, Pune, the manufacturing facility was set up in 2009 and is among the fastest green-field operations ever to be created. The plant currently produces five models: C-Class, E-Class and S-Class luxury sedans along with the M-Class and GL-Class luxury SUVs.
