MP Vikram Sahney Appointed as Vice Chairman of National Apprenticeship Council: Dr. Vikramjit Singh Sahney, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha has been appointed as the Vice Chairman of the National Apprenticeship Council (NAC), as per a recent notification by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
In this esteemed role, Dr. Sahney will work closely with key stakeholders to drive the government’s mission of enhancing vocational training and apprenticeships across the country.
Upon his appointment, Dr. Sahney stated, “During the period of apprenticeship, apprentices will receive a stipend, of which 50% is reimbursable to the employer by the Government. The apprenticeship will span a period of one year, offering young individuals the opportunity to gain valuable on-the-job training.”
In a significant move towards expanding apprenticeship opportunities, Dr. Sahney also informed that an Apprenticeship Mela was organized today across eight different Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in Punjab.
The event witnessed over 4,000 students registering for the apprenticeship training program, marking a step forward in bridging the gap between education and employment.
Dr. Sahney also said that there are mutual benefits of the apprenticeship model, calling it a “win-win situation” for all stakeholders. “Youth will receive essential hands-on experience that will significantly improve their employability, while industries will have the advantage of training a workforce on their premises, ensuring a more efficient and effective skill alignment with their operational needs,”
