NewZNew (S A S Nagar) : Oakridge International School celebrated the World Book Day dedicated to literature and all its components through a series of mini events spaced over the entire week. Each day students were engaged in various activities that showcased their talent for reading through various expressive means.
Students shared their findings of why and how books are still the universal means of entertainment and information. At the moment students got a chance to speak and understand about the various genres of Literature and what they mean. The main attraction of the event was Character parade in which students attired in famous characters walk on the ramp and performed various activities
Tiny tots also had an amazing activity of Bring the Story Alive, where the tiny toddlers along with the teachers created scenes from the stories they have read. They reused the material and made life size images of articles that created the feeling of compassion in the children. Teachers of the pre-primary segment presented the Rainbow Fish – a story about friendship and sharing. It was a heart-warming sight where the young students felt the plight of the fish and emphasized with her by sharing their views and opinions.
While speaking at the moment Principal of the School Ramanjit Ghuman said that learning needs to be more creative. Children of today have a range of learning abilities and each can be taught and learnt if the opportunity is presented to the children. She felt that there is a dire need for students to open up the mind of students as writing, reading and speaking are the jewels and students are worthy wearers of this. She further added that Literature provides pleasure and develops thinking skills also.
