Ocean of emotions at NEWSCAPES – 5 showcasing the work of 55 photojournalists

The annual exhibition is being held in the memory of eminent photojournalist Late Shri Yog Joy

Punjab Governor & UT Administrator – Shri VP Singh Badnore today inaugurated the three-day long ‘NEWSCAPES-5’, an exhibition of works of photojournalists of Chandigarh & tricity being organized by Chandigarh Press Club at Punjab Kala Bhawan in Sector 16, Chandigarh. The exhibition is aligned with the memory of noted photojournalist Late Shri Yog Joy. This is the fifth edition of this annual exhibition which is showcasing 120 selective works of 55 photojournalists.

This edition is also showcasing the four frames of Ladakh sojourn of Sh. VP Singh Badnore along with six frames of Late Shri Yog Joy and four each of Swadesh Talwar, RP Singh, Anil Puri and Rajneesh Katyal in guest gallery.

While inaugurating the exhibition, Badnore stressed upon that displayed work not only gives a glimpse into reality, but also inspire emotions and serve as reminder of special moments. Remembering the contributing of Shri Yog Joy, Badnore appreciated the hard work put in by photojournalists to keep his memories alive in this form of tribute.

The exhibition reflects diverse areas, ranging from culture, dance, theatre, politics, people, festivals, sports, animals, monuments, everyday events, mishaps, rallies, scenes from nature and the city life.

Organizers also felicitated the winners of photography competition which was meant for tricity’s schools. Karam Sethi of Vivek High School bagged first prize with Rs 8000 Cash money while Abhitej Arora of St. Johns School, Sector 26, Chandigarh ranked second with Rs 6000. Vishal Verm of Tribune Model School, Sector 29, Chandigarh positioned third with Rs 4000. Simar and Kaynaat won consolation prizes with Rs 2000 each.

“The exhibition brings in to focus, the work of photo journalists, veterans as well as new talent. Yog Joy was a gem of the nation. Apart from his professional expertise, he was an exemplary human being, a combination that leads to success, something the young talent needs to imbibe,’’ commented Jaswant Rana, President, Chandigarh Press Club.

Vikram Joy, Chairman, Photo Exhibition Committee expressed vote of thanks.
