NewZNew (S A S Nagar) : Taking a pledge on the occasion of World Environment Day to plant at least 5,000 saplings in Mohali this year, Mona Townships Pvt Ltd (MTPL), a leading real estate developer of the northern region, launched a plantation campaign in the town on Friday, which was inaugurated by SAS Nagar Deputy Commissioner Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu.
Initiating the campaign by planting a sapling at the J90 mixed-use project of Mona Townships in Mohali, Mr Sidhu appreciated the real estate developer for taking such a commendable initiative and requested residents to join this campaign. He urged other corporates to follow the example set by Mona Townships.
In line with its “Clean & Green Mohali” project, which seeks to involve all residents in planting samplings across the town, Mona Townships kicked off its plantation drive by planting ‘Washingtonia’ saplings in the J90 premises.
Stating that the drive is part of the initiatives taken by Mona Townships from time to time to meet its social commitment, Mr Tejinder Pal Setia, Chairman, Mona Townships, said, “Through this campaign, we have taken it upon ourselves to turn Mohali into Punjab’s greenest city. Let’s make plantation drives a regular feature and not restrict them to occasions like World Environment Day.”
