newznew (S A S Nagar) : Fortis Hospital, Mohali celebrated International Nurses Week with felicitation of their nursing staff in an award ceremony followed by festivities.
This annual ceremony is a platform not only for the nursing staff to showcase their talents, but also a gesture of appreciation for their constant efforts to facilitate patient care and support to the hospital.
The occasion began with a toe tapping dance performance by the nursing staff to a popular Bollywood number. The event was graced with the presence of Mr. Ashish Bhatia, Chief Operating officer (North & East), Fortis Healthcare Ltd, Mr. Abhijit Singh, Facility Director, Fortis Hospital Mohali, and Wg Cdr GBS Kang, Medical Director, Fortis Hospital Mohali.
After the lighting of the lamp, a brief introduction was given on the life and works of “The Lady with a Lamp”, Florence Nightingale. Speaking on the occasion, Ashish Bhatia highlighted the immense contribution of the nursing staff to the routine functioning of the hospital and the vital role they play in the patient and staff communication. He also indicated that patients expect high standards from the nursing staff and when such standards are met, it is a memorable experience for the patient. He encouraged them to continue their focus on patient centricity.
He then, gave away awards for various categories in which the ‘Best ICU Nurse’ was bagged by Ms. Ratandeep Kaur, the ‘Best Ward Nurse’ by Ms. Puneet and the ‘Best OT Nurse’ by Ms. Gagandeep. Further, awards were given for ‘Best Non-Census’ area which was won by Ms. Prabhjot Kaur, Mr. Pravesh won the ‘Best Unit Nurse’ of the year by Medical ICU, ‘Best Infection Control Unit’ was won by CCU and Best FOS unit by A1. Ms. Rashmi Sharma won the ‘Florence Nightingale Award’.
The mesmerizing performances presented by the members of the School of Nursing received a thundering applause by the audience. The crowds cheered on for the Theme Opening. The show stopper was the ramp walk which included participation from in-charges of various departments adding glamour to the show.
The event concluded with a deep appreciation for the extra mile that nurses travel to make a patient comfortable in the toughest of situations. Whether it is the brightness of the day or the darkness of the night, the wards at the Fortis hospital are forever lit up with lights and warm hearts of relentless, compassionate nurses on duty.
The nurses appreciated the efforts of various departments of the hospital for the support and encouragement they receive every year in the form of this joyous occasion.
