NewZNew (Chandigarh) : The Punjab and Haryana high court on Monday asked Dalip Kumar Jha, son of Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan (DJJS) head Ashutosh Maharaj, who died a few months ago, to produce additional evidence to prove that he is the spiritual guru’s son.
When the matter came up for hearing before the HC on Monday, counsel for Dalip Kumar Jha produced certain documents related to his birth and schooling. However, the HC asked him to produce documentary evidence, which can prove his relationship with his father. The case has now been fixed for further hearing on October 29.
Justice M M S Bedi of the HC on September 2 had asked Dalip Kumar Jha to submit certain documents, including birth certificate, school certificate and any photograph where the father and son were together, which can prove before the court his relationship with the spiritual guru.
HC also asked him to produce photographs of any family function or his marriage ceremony. Claiming to be the only son of the spiritual guru, Dalip has sought directives to hand over the body of his father to him so that he can perform the last rites. He has also claimed before the HC that in February this year, principal secretary of Bihar government wrote a letter to Punjab principal secretary (home) to arrange for dispatch of mortal remains of Ashutosh Maharaj to Bihar, but no action was taken by the state. Jha had also alleged that some managers of Dera had eliminated his father for property.
On April 4, Punjab government had clarified before the HC that Ashutosh Maharaj had died a natural death. Ashutosh Maharaj was declared clinically dead, but dera officials had been claiming that he was in “samadhi.”
