NewZNew (Chandigarh) : The Punjab Government has decided to strengthen the ‘Grievances Redressal Mechanism’ of the Technical Education and Industrial Training Department.
Stating this, an official spokesperson said that instructions in this regard have been given to the Registrar, PTU, Jalandhar, Secretary, Punjab State Technical Education and Industrial Training Board, Chandigarh and all the Principals of engineering and polytechnic colleges.
The spokesperson also said that all stakeholders’ e.g.-Students, Staff, Colleges and General Public have been asked to be involved and steps taken to provide services to all concerned. He informed that this mechanism shall be delivering the services at the levels of Directorate of Technical Education, Punjab State Board of Technical Education and Industrial Training, Punjab Technical University and Schools & Colleges.
Giving further details, the spokesperson said that each of these levels will appoint a ‘Public Grievances Officer’ responsible for keeping a separate register concerning the record of the complaints. A complaint shall contain the Date of receipt of complaint, Name, Address, Contact Number of the complainant, Whether acknowledgement given at the time of receipt, Subject of grievance, Office to which it pertains, Brief Description and Date of acknowledgement redressal.
The spokesperson also said that for the Directorate of Technical Education, Additional Director will be the Nodal Officer and Secretary, Technical Education will be the appellate authority. Principals of concerned institutions shall discharge the duties of Nodal Officers For Polytechnics and Engineering colleges while Director, Technical Education or Additional Director nominated by the Director, shall be the appellate authority. Secretary of the board shall be the Nodal Officer for Punjab State Board of Technical Education and Industrial Training and Chairman of the board will be the appellate authority. For Punjab Technical University, Registrar has been bestowed upon responsibility of the Nodal Officer while appellate authority shall be the Vice-Chancellor.
According to the spokesperson, each complaint shall be received and delivered to the designated PUBLIC GREIVANCE OFFICER (PGO) by post, by hand, fax and e-mail. Upon receiving the complaint, the PGO will confirm that whether the submitted complaint is in anyway concerned with the activities of the above 4 levels. If that is so, then the PGO shall deal with it and acknowledge the receipt in writing within 2 days of receiving it.
