- Sainik Sadan will be constructed in all districts of the State.
- Sainik Old age home spanning to 1.50 acre will be constructed at SAS Nagar.
- Special function organized at SAS Nagar on the occasion of Armed Forces Flag Day.
NewZNew (S A S Nagar) :Punjab Govt. is committed towards welfare of Ex-service men and their dependents. As such, department of defense services welfare is working dedicatedly by reaching to their door step and for solving their financial and other needs. This was stated by Director Defense services welfare Brig. (retd.) J S Arora, while addressing the function organized on the occasion of Armed Forces Flag day at SAS Nagar.
Sh. Arora said that Armed Forces Flag Day is being celebrated in the entire country on 7th December every year since 1948. The main objective of this day is to make a remembrance of those heroes who sacrificed their lives and this day gives a motivation to the citizens for providing financial help towards dependent of their family members. On this day citizens shows their honor & respect towards martyrs by sticking the emblem of national flag and by donating money for providing financial assistance to the dependents of martyrs.
Sh. Arora urged that all the citizens and industrialist should donate freely and willingly. He said that the donation amount thus collected will be utilized with transparence for the welfare of dependents of Ex-servicemen. During this many citizens and industrialist donated the amount for the good cause. He further said that for any type of complaint/grievance being faced by the Ex-servicemen and their dependents, they could contact at toll free number 1800-180-2118 and their grievance will be redressed timely.
Director Defence Services Welfare said that Sainik Sadan will be constructed at every district of the state and the work for construction of sainik sadan at SAS Nagar will be completed in 10 months. He said that with the construction of Sainik Sadan, the Ex-Servicemen need not to go to Chandi-Mandir for their works rather this Sadan will be equipped with all facilities. He said that on the same pattern of Panchkula, a Sainik Sadan at Sector 68 Mohali will be constructed spanning to 1.50 acre, as such land for the same will be provided free of cost by Punjab Govt. During this he launched the souvenir named “Rann-Jodhe” published by the department.
During this cultural event like Bhangra & Gidha was performed by students of Sainik Institute of management which was being run by the department. During this Major gen. IP Singh Director Mai Bhago Armed forces preparatory institute for girls, Col. Ranbir Singh, Col. SS Sohi, Major (Retd.) PJ Singh father of Late Lieutenant Col. Bikramjit Singh and her mother Lavpreet kaur and other Ex-Servicemen, local citizens & other officials of the department were present.
