Punjab is a key market for Lohia Auto’s ambitious expansion plan: India’s first EV manufacturer, Lohia Auto Industries, with a strong portfolio in last-mile connectivity products such as electric two-and three-wheelers, sets its eye on the Punjab market. The company is also expected to announce new product launches.

Electric vehicles are becoming increasingly popular in Chandigarh, with registrations seeing a whopping 3700% rise within five years.

The EV manufacturer is also participating in the Electric Vehicle Expo, which is the biggest Electric Vehicle Expo in Northern India. The company showcased its EVs, namely Humsafar, and Narain at the Expo. Notably, all products of Lohia Auto are completely “Made in India.”

In a bid to make the eco-friendly vehicles even more popular, Loha Auto will also be introducing new products for the Punjab market. The R&D team at Lohia is proactively working on last-mile connectivity products to provide a safe commute solution .

Chandigarh is undertaking steps to adopt e-mobility under the Smart Cities Mission of the Ministry of Urban Development. As the city suffers from severe air pollution, switching to EVs has become critical.The UT has set a few agendas to encourage people to adopt electric vehicles.

Our entry into the Punjab market is a step toward realising our vision of clean, emission-free mobility as the demand for electric vehicles rises. Furthermore, Chandigarh is moving forward with the adoption of electric mobility as soon as possible in order to qualify as a smart city under the Ministry of Urban Development’s Smart Cities Mission. Besides, the city, with the highest density of vehicles in India, is also looking to adopt EVs aggressively as it faces a huge challenge in maintaining the deteriorating air quality.” said Mr. Ayush Lohia, CEO, Lohia Auto Industries.

“In this upbeat atmosphere, we believe Punjab is a crucial market for us since we are able to give them a cleaner form of transportation that offers an urgently needed emission-free mobility solution,”  further added Mr. Ayush Lohia.

The company already has a manufacturing unit based out of Kashipur, Uttrakhand, with the capacity to produce 100,000 units per year of 2 and 3-wheelers, which will cater to the additional demand coming in from the Punjab market.
