Role of Science and society in woman safety event held: Scientific Society of DAV College, Chandigarh, organized a one day event on women safety, VEERANGNA – THE FIGHTER, on the theme of the role of Science and Society in Women safety.
Dr. Pawan Kumar Sharma, Principal, DAV College, Chandigarh, welcomed the speakers of event and also explained about the vision and theme of the event. Dr. Raman Soni, Convener Scientific Society, highlighted the significance of science and technology in the reformation of the society on basis of latest apps and many previous events organized by Scientific Society of the college.
Dr. Thakur Sudesh Kumar, from Semi conductor laboratory (ISRO) and Dr. Samrat Ghosh from IISER (Mohali) were the speakers of the event. Dr. Samrat Ghosh, delivered a lecture on the importance of Science in woman safety and gender equality. Dr. Samrat Ghosh explained about the use of advance technology, demonstrated simple gadgets as well as about a Mobile Application developed by the students of IISER for the safety of women.
Science could also be helpful to generate employment by enabling societal connect in current isolated environment. Dr. Thakur Sudesh Kumar provided vision regarding development of more scientific tools for the betterment and safety of women in society.
He also talked about recently initiated anti eve-teasing project with NIT, Jalandhar based on the principle of static charge. More than 200 students and faculty members attended the event. Questions and queries of students were also addressed in the last session. It was an enthralling experience for the audience.
The event ended with vote of thanks from Dr. Karan Vinayak and Dr. Jyotsna Rekhie.
