Sant Nirankari Mission observes World Environment Day at 14 Hill Stations Pan India: To mark the participation in the World Environment Day on June 5, 2022, the Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation (SNCF) was organized a wide spread Cleanliness and Tree Plantation drive at 14 Hill Stations covering 7 States of the country with the help of 10,000 volunteers of Sant Nirankari mission.
These towns are known for the immense rush of tourists during the summer season. This day seeks to create awareness about the environment crisis that the planet earth is facing due to global warming. The United Nations has declared Sweden as the Global Host of 2022 World Environment Day with the theme of “Only One Earth.”
The whole world is coming together to combat pollution. This year, thousands of volunteers of the Sant Nirankari Mission in their Khaki uniforms and the SNCF volunteersin their blue T-shirts and caps along with other devotees and residents of respective cities was carried out a Mega Cleanliness Drive and a Tree Plantation Drive forming a Human Chain for awareness for a better environment at Mussoorie, Rishikesh, Lansdowne and Nainital in Uttarakhand; Shimla, in Himachal Pradesh; Mahabaleshwar, Panchagani, Khandala, Lonavala and Panhala in Maharashtra; Mount Abu in Rajasthan and Gangtok in Sikkim.
At each place, volunteers was assembled at 08:00 am and carried out the campaign up to 12:30 pm. The event was begin with a prayer followed by the drive. The young artists – volunteers of the Mission was organized Street Plays (Nukkad – Natika) on the theme of ‘Plastic Pollution’.
The volunteer was carried play cards and banners with slogans to emphasize the message of ‘No Plastic Use/ Beat Air Pollution / Cleanliness & Tree Plantation’. The participants was also taken a pledge ‘To Save the Earth FromPollution’in this programme. The Sant Nirankari Mission has been observing World Environment Day since 2014 themed by United Nations Environment programme.
Other Activities
Along with spiritual awakening, the Sant Nirankari Mission is devoting itself to the service of humanity in several ways. Today the Mission is one of the leading blood donating voluntary organizations in the country. Starting from 1986, it has organized 7,225 blood donation camps and donated 12 lakh units of blood so far.
Today, the Sant Nirankari Mission’s, Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation is running four hospitals, 102 dispensaries and 4 pathological laboratories; all functioning on charitable basis. The hospitals are located in Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Agra, while the dispensaries are spread across the country. The Foundation also organizers camps for cataract surgery, health checkups, heart checkups, anemia control, etc. from times to time. The Mission contemplates to set up a full fledged Sant Nirankari Health City in Delhi. The Mission’s first Blood Bank is located in Vile Parle in Mumbai. Over 20 lakh people, mostly coming from the weaker section of society are being benefittedevery year.
The Mission is running two colleges and 18 schools in Delhi and other parts of the country. Besides, it has 45 tailoring and Embroidery Training Centers for empowering the widows and other needy women. The youth are also being empowered through various vocational courses like music, computer training and communication skills. The Sant Nirankari Mission has been carrying out tree plantation and cleanliness drives for decades.
In 2010, Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation was organized to give further impetus to social welfare efforts in a much organized and effective way. While it carried on the tree plantation and cleanliness drives to mark Baba Hardev Singh Ji’s birthday on February 23 every year, the Foundation stepped up its contribution towards cleanliness when the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ from October 2, 2014. In 2015, it was declared the Brand Ambassador of the drive in the country.
