NewZNew (Chandigarh) : The Women’s wing of the Chandigarh Press Club today organized a seminar on ‘Role of woman in rebuilding relation’. In seminar, a panel of eminent speakers from various fields from Punjab University, PGI and Max Hospital deliberated on how the role of women has changed in the current scenario. Mrs. Poonam Sharma, Mayor Chandigarh was chief guest during occasion. Whereas Mr. Sandeep Dogra , Vice President and Zonal Head, Max Hospitals Punjab presided over the function.
Dr. Seema Sharma, Sr Consultant ,Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Max Hospital Mohali delivered an informative talk on the importance of preventive health care which included screening for early detection of diseases, before the signs or symptoms appear. She said , since most lifestyle diseases are “silent”, regular check-ups are the only answer. The preventive healthcare is all about identifying and minimizing the risk factors of a disease. It also involves improving the course of an existing disease as well as screening for early detection. Disorders which are particular to women only such as UTI, cancer of the breast, uterus, or cervix call for preventive care.”
Prof Sherry Sabarwal, Director, Sociology Dept , Punjab University ,Dr K Dhillon , Lecturer at Govt College also spoke on woman and their role in improving family relations .
During occasion, Prof. Vinod Mehta a famous painter drew a painting on seminar theme. Anmol Sandhu Rai, ‘Mrs India Queen of Substance 2015’ and famous Punjabi Singer, Rupinder Handa graced the occasion as special guests. Mrs. Archana Sethi, Vice President, Women’s Wing of the Press Club and Organizing Secretary of the event said that such events related to women are an important endeavour in the direction of women’s upliftment.
