NewZNew (Panchkula) : On the eve of Guru Nanak’s Birthday, which is observed as Gurpurab, SMD Little Champ Smart School, Sec-2, Panchkula, organised a trip for students to Gurudwara Nada Sahib, the religious place of the Sikhs. The tiny tots entered the Gurudwara with full enthusiasm and religious fervor. The Gurudwara was decorated with flowers, ribbons and pictures describing various features of Sikhism. They relished the ‘Langar ‘and the ‘Karaprashad’.They went around the entire premises of the Gurudwara. It was also an educational trip because the students came to know what Sikhism preaches.
Children were explained about Gurupurab. Teachers told the students that the birthday of Gurunanak Dev ji is celebrated as Gurpurab .The celebrations last for three days. Sikhs celebrate Guru Nanak Dev’s birthday by reading the Sikh Holy Scriptures, the Guru Granth Sahib. Guru Nanak Dev believed in caste less society without any distinctions. He institutionalised the concept of common meal, whether they were rich or poor. The idea was to offer food to the people in the spirit of service and affection.
Director Mr. Naresh Gupta told the students, “My message on Gurpurab is that do not speak evil of any one and forgive him or her who speaks evil of you. All children should keep in mind that service to humanity is service to God.”
