Sydney, Australia, is all set to host a fabulous cast. This is on account of the production of ‘Spaceballs 2,’ the long-awaited sequel to the sci-fi movie ‘Spaceballs’ (1987), in the city from this month onwards. Josh Greenbaum will direct it based on a screenplay by Josh Gad, Benji Samit, and Dan Hernandez, which is under wraps. Josh Gad, Mel Brooks, Bill Pullman, Rick Moranis, Keke Palmer, Daphne Zuniga, and Lewis Pullman are the cast members.
Mel Brooks, Bill Pullman, Rick Moranis, and Daphne Zuniga will return to play President Skroob (ruler of Planet Spaceball), Lone Starr (the heroic mercenary), Dark Helmet (second-in-command of Planet Spaceball), and Princess Vespa (of Planet Druidia), respectively. The original tale, a spoof of the ‘Star Wars’ trilogy, demonstrates how the nefarious Dark Helmet and President Skroob attempt to pilfer the atmosphere of the idyllic world of Druidia but are thwarted by Lone Starr, his sidekick Barf (John Candy), and Vespa. Bill Pullman’s son, Lewis Pullman, will be playing Starburst, Lone Starr’s son with Vespa. Keke Palmer will be featured as Destiny. Gad’s role has not been disclosed so far. Mel Brooks has been providing his unique voice to films and television lately, among which are ‘Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank,’ as the Shogun,
‘Toy Story 4,’ as Melephant Brooks, and ‘Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation,’ as Vlad. He also featured in Pelayo De Lario’s comedy drama ‘Jack.’ Some of Bill Pullman’s recent film and television credits include Max in ‘The High Note,’ Alex Murdaugh in ‘Murdaugh Murders: The Movie,’ and Harry Dietzler in ‘Dark Waters.’ We next see him in the supernatural thriller drama ‘Killing Faith’ alongside Guy Pearce and DeWanda Wise. One of the 1980s and 1990s icons, Rick Moranis, took a break from the limelight to take some time off with his family following the death of his wife, Ann Belsky. Some of the cult favorites that he has worked on include ‘The Flintstones,’ ‘Honey, I Shrunk the Kids,’ ‘Parenthood,’ and the ‘Ghostbusters’ films. Daphne Zuniga’s more recent notable acting work is in the roles of Sonya Jackson in ‘Dynasty,’ Anne in ‘Abigail Falls,’ and Michelle Andrews in ‘Heartbeats.’
We will remember her as Victoria Davis from ‘One Tree Hill’ and Jo Reynolds from ‘Melrose Place.’ Lewis Pullman portrayed Robert Reynolds/Sentry/the Void in the MCU film ‘Thunderbolts*.’ Previously, we have known him as Ben Mears in the horror film ‘Salem’s Lot,’ Rocco in ‘Riff Raff,’ Rhett Abbott in ‘Outer Range,’ and Calvin Evans in ‘Lessons in Chemistry.’ We will next see him feature with Amanda Seyfried in the period drama ‘Ann Lee,’ about the life of the cult leader with the same name, who was anointed the female Christ by her followers. Keke Palmer was last seen as Zoe in the action comedy ‘The Pickup,’ co-starring Eddie Murphy and Pete Davidson, and Dreux in ‘One of Them Days,’ alongside SZA’s Alyssa. She will next be seen playing the character Elena in Aziz Ansari’s action comedy drama ‘Good Fortune.’ The movie also stars Keanu Reeves, Seth Rogen, Sandra Oh, and Ansari himself.
