State Resource Group of Chandigarh Attends 5-Day Orientation ProgrammeThe focus of the programme was on reviewing and discussing the newly developed language textbooks by NCERT. The SRGs from Chandigarh shared their experiences with participants from other northern states, including Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh.

The sessions provided a comprehensive understanding of the textbooks, from their inception to development, offering valuable insights into their content and teaching methodologies.

A key highlight of the programme was a special interaction with eminent educationists, such as Dr. Chand Kiran Saluja, Member of the Drafting Committee of NEP 2020; Dr. Meenakshi Khar from NCERT; Dr. Sri Devi, Assistant Professor at RIE Ajmer; and Dr. Sucheta, Principal at RIE Ajmer.

These discussions added significant depth to the programme, focusing on the alignment of the new textbooks with the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The initiative aimed at training SRGs to equip them with the skills to train other language teachers in Chandigarh, enabling them to use these textbooks creatively and effectively in the classroom.

The coordinator of the Chandigarh SRG group, Ms. Mannu Sharma from SCERT, Chandigarh, played a pivotal role in motivating the SRGs to showcase their best practices related to the new textbooks at RIE Ajmer. The SRGs who participated in the programme included Ms. Isha Anand (TGT, English), Ms. Meenakshi Dhiman (TGT, Hindi), Ms. Kiran Bala (TGT, Hindi), Mr. Govind Sharma (TGT, Sanskrit), Dr. Sonu Sharma (TGT, Sanskrit), Mr. Prem Chand (JBT), and Mr. Sunil Kaushik (TGT, Sanskrit).

This programme is expected to play a crucial role in helping teachers in Chandigarh integrate the new textbooks into their teaching practices, thus contributing to the broader objectives of NEP 2020 for innovative and holistic education.
