Students celebrated Green Consumer Day by participating in cycle rally: Message of clean environment given by planting trees: Maharishi Dayanand Public School, Daria, in collaboration with the Environment Department, Chandigarh Administration, organized a cycle rally and planted trees on the occasion of Green Consumer Day.
Most of the students of Eco Club of the school participated in the cycle rally. On this occasion, as the chief guest environment lover Pradeep Triveni, Maharishi Dayanand Public School Principal Dr. Vinod Sharma, school staff and students were present.
A cycle club was also formed in the school. Pradeep Triveni planted trees with the students on Consumer Day and told them that trees have a special significance in our lives. Along with Triveni, students took a pledge to celebrate their birthday by planting trees.
Throwing light on the importance of Consumer Day, Triveni said that we should reuse the used things so that we can save the rapidly changing climate. He said that while cooking vegetables at home, the leftover peels should not be mixed with plastic in the garbage but should be kept separately so that it can be transferred to the compost.
He said that notebooks should not be thrown away but the leftover pages should be reused and pages should be taken out from different notebooks and a notebook should be made so that trees can be saved from being cut. We will move forward only with small efforts. He also praised the cycle club established in the school.
During the cycle rally, Dr. Vinod Sharma said that cycling keeps a person healthy. Today people use vehicles to complete small tasks. This is increasing pollution. The environment has become unbalanced due to the smoke coming out of these vehicles.
People are suffering from many diseases. He told the students that they should also use cycles a lot in their daily lives. Use only the cycle track while riding a bicycle. The students said that they will use bicycles in future and will also inspire other people to ride a bicycle by making them aware of its benefits.
The students told the people that they should also include cycling in their daily routine. They appealed to cooperate in making the environment clean by planting as many trees as possible.
Anju Modgil, the Vice Principal of the school said that only trees can give us a clean environment. They are our true well-wishers. All creatures can be happy only if trees and plants are safe.
