Students have a Rocking time at Satluj’s Galactica


newznew (Panchkula) : Satluj Public School, Sector 4 came alive with inter-school ‘Galactica- 6th Satluj Rock Show 2016’ held here today. There were rock bands from different schools of the tricity,

The best band for the day prize went to Soaring Eagles of St. John’s High School, Chandigarh. The first runner up was The Beige Beans of Satluj Public School, Panchkula, while the second runner up was Metalloids of The Gurukul School, Panchkula.

Prizes in other category included, Purvanshi: Best Keyboard Player; Armaan and Rishit: Best Guitarist; Sagar Tiwari: Best Vocalist; Sarab Raj: Best Percussionist. Vocalist Stanley Chaudhary, Mr. Susan Newman from USA and Mr. Jason Chillana from UK were the judges.

Among those schools which participated included, Satluj Public School, St. Johns High School, Chitkara International School, Shemrock School, St. Soldiers’ School, Shivalik Public School and The Gurukul, Panchkula.

There were prizes of Rs 3,000, Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,000 for the Best Band, 1stRunner Up band and 2nd Runner Up band respectively. Also, the best Guitarist, Percussionist, Drummer and Keyboard player were awarded individually. Aayat, the band and RJ Abhimanyu enthralled the audience as special guests on the occasion.

In its fifth year now, Galactica is one of the most anticipated rock battles of the year. The chief guest on the occasion was school principal, Krit Serai, who in his address encouraged the students interested in music to participate in such events which give them a platform to bring out their talent. Galactica Founding Director, Reekrit Serai informed, “With this rock show, we aim to allow young rock stars from the tricity to take flight into an inter-galactic space-age journey of music, performances, wit and confidence.”

Several schools from the tricity participated in the rock show, which was an initiative taken by Satluj Public School to encourage young, musical talent from the region.
