Haryana’s Transport Minister Sh. Anil Vij today welcomed the decision of the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Sh. Nitin Gadkari, to introduce a FASTag-based annual pass for Rs.3,000 for private vehicles (non-commercial) starting from August 15, 2025. Sh. Vij stated that this scheme would provide significant benefits to private vehicle owners.
Sh. Vij was responding to a question asked by the media persons regarding the launch of the FASTag-based annual pass. He said that Union Minister Sh. Nitin Gadkari has made a historic decision, which will provide considerable convenience to private vehicle owners. Currently, vehicle owners are often forced to stop at toll plazas repeatedly, resulting in wasted time and unnecessary fuel consumption due to idling.
Sh. Vij added that toll-related disputes frequently occur at toll plazas, but this new decision will provide relief to the public and also offer financial benefits. He said the annual pass will help ensure seamless and cost-effective travel on national highways across the country, which is why he welcomes the decison. It may noted that this Scheme starting August 15, 2025, the government will introduce a FASTag-based annual pass for Rs.3,000 for private (non-commercial) vehicles. This pass will be valid for either one year or 200 trips, whichever comes first, from the date of activation. It will enable hassle-free travel across all national highways in India.
Notably, the government will soon provide a separate link for activation and renewal of the annual pass via the Highway Travel App and official websites of the NHAI or the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, making the process simple and accessible.
