NewZNew (Chandigarh) : Uber, the technology company that seamlessly connects riders with drivers at the push of a button, has today announced its partnership with the Chandigarh Police for the launch of “Don’t Drink and Drive” initiative. The initiative kicked-off with the unveiling of the first Uber Breathalyser at the Chandigarh Golf Club by Mr. Tajender Pal Singh Luthra, Inspector General of Police, Chandigarh and Amit Jain, President, Uber India.
Uber Breathalyser is a kiosk that calculates the blood alcohol content (BAC) in a person’s body through an app that’s fixed to the device. If the person’s BAC is higher than permissible limit for driving, they can sign up and take their first free ride on Uber.
“We are excited to partner with the Chandigarh Police to drive awareness against drunk driving. We will continue to work across cities and authorities, to raise awareness and provide alternative transportation options like Uber that can help bring down incidents related to drunk driving” saidAmit Jain, President, Uber India.
